ITZAS
magnetic brooches don't have pins so they won't damage delicate fabrics and woolens
. The fabric is sandwiched between the itza (which is itself magnetic) and a powerful magnetic back button.

ITZAS are designed and made by Helen Hastings, a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art. She enjoys felt-making as it combines a tactile way of working with direct use of colour. She is inspired by her local surroundings and her work expresses the colours and textures of the landscape in the different seasons and times of day.

THE WET-FELTING PROCESS
First Helen lays out 'tops' of Merino and native breed wools with inclusions of other materials on the table in layers. With soapy water and friction the fibres are bonded together to form a fabric that is unique each time.
