Helen Fraser
is a holistic practitioner in the truest sense with a career that
encompasses many disciplines. She is a deeply spiritual person
and is motivated by compassion to alleviate suffering where she
is able.
On leaving
school Helen took up a career in nursing, completing her training
in the UK and then working in the field of reconstructive surgery
Zimbabwe before moving to the USA to train as a Cosmetologist
with the reknowned Janet
Sartin.
In 1981 Helen
had a serious health challenge. Conventional medicine offered
a means of controlling the condition but at a cost of complicated
side effects so she turned to M.
Micheline Arcier, one of the founder members of modern day
aromatherapy for help. The treatment cured her condition and Helen
developed a passionate interest in holistic treatments and the
healing abilities of traditional medicines. She spent the next
two and a half years studying and working with M. Arcier and her
daughter Marie-Christine, broadening her understanding of Phyto-medicine.
Between 1984 and 1989 Helen gave M. Arcier treatments to patients
at the Palliatory Care Unit at St. Mary's in Paddington, London
and this experience has encouraged her to develop the treatments
she can offer as a resource for patients who are undergoing chemotherapy
or who have a compromised immune system.
Helen has
studied other disciplines and trained with various healers of
interest and integrity, including Dr. Helene Harris, a teacher
of Psychotherapy, Colour Therapy and Life Training Courses. Peter
Goldman, Principal of the Centre of New Directions and a well
known exponent and teacher of Sound Therapy. Ann Lett, Principal
of the International School for Reflex Zone Therapy under the
guidance of Dr. Hanne Marquardt and Gerder Schpielman for Lymphatic
Drainage Therapy.
Helen considers
meditation to be integral to her life. She has practiced in Thailand,
India and the UK with leading meditation masters. In 1998 she
moved to live near to, and be closely involved with, Chithurst
Buddhist Monastery before returning to her roots in the Borders
in 2003 where she now makes her healing therapies available.
